Highlights of Portugal
Portugal packs an extraordinary amount into a small country, and this journey takes in the best of it at an unhurried pace. Begin among the hills, trams and miradouros of Lisbon, then head out to the fairytale palaces of Sintra and the walled village of Óbidos.
Continue north through Nazaré and Batalha to Coimbra, one of Europe's oldest university towns, before reaching Porto on the banks of the Douro. The journey ends with two days in the Douro Valley, where port wine has been made on hand-built terraces for centuries.
