Kyoto Morning Walk: Fushimi Inari and Gion
Fushimi Inari is at its best early in the morning, when the thousands of vermilion gates are quiet and the light filters through the forest. This walking tour starts at 07:30 to make the most of it.
After the shrine, take the train to Higashiyama and walk the stone-paved lanes of Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka to the Yasaka pagoda, finishing in Gion with matcha and wagashi at a century-old tea house.
